68 of 365

In case you are wondering how my Project 365 is going, I will give you an update.  As with most New Year’s resolutions, I started off strong and then lost steam.  However, while I have missed a few days between Jan.1 and now, there are many things that I have captured photos of that I would not have otherwise and I have had my camera out much more frequently than I did before.

Most notably, there are now photos of my kids’ toys and daily activities, as well as the addition of still lifes and landscapes instead of my photos being exclusively portraits.  When you are taking your camera out day after day, it forces you to become creative.  In a mom’s daily life, a little like groundhog day, how do I seek out a new photo opportunity that doesn’t look exactly the same as what I have done for the last 67 days?

Here are some highlights.

Hannah Turns 1

These photos were taken to celebrate Hannah’s first birthday – isn’t she adorable?!  We had a fun time in the park, and I think she was most excited about the opportunity to explore, touch, and taste all of the grass and sticks she could get her hands on!

The Wolfard Clan

Good friends of ours from Japan, we have enjoyed living within driving distance of each other these last few years for weekends such as these.  And with Krystal’s due date quickly approaching, I was delighted to have the chance to record this glorious stage of their family’s life.  You will see that Jacob’s favourite object is currently his pirate sword, and it rarely leaves his side.  And that Grace is a doll that sometimes has to cry a little with those larger than life brown eyes.  Now I just can’t wait to meet the newest little guy!

Amelie

After meeting the Skakkebaek family, along with their two adorable girls, I have decided that my new favourite girl name is Amelie.  So, if I happen to have another girl someday, there’s a good chance that, thanks to some white-blonde hair, dimples-have-dimples smile, and an ever-present scooter, she’ll be named Amelie.  For this family’s session, we went to the new engineering buildings on Stanford campus for a variety of backgrounds, as they wanted head-shots in addition to the “normal” family pictures.   Now see for yourself why this little Amelie stole my heart…

Sexy at Sixty

Let me preface this by saying that my mom is technically not sixty until August.  However, this is her “sixty” year, and it’s a milestone.  And the fact is, I pray that I look like my mom when I’m sixty!  The kids and I joined my parents down in Cabo San Lucas last week for some rest and relaxation, so I was able to take a few pictures of the lovely lady I call Mum:)
